Our God is an awesome God, who's always there to comfort you, guide you, protect you. You can call upon him whenever you're in distress. God is simple and easy to talk to and the same goes with your relationship with him. You can open up to tell him how you feel, thank him for the numerous things he's done in your life.
Through prayers, you can communicate with God and tell him your troubles because life is filled with ups and downs. It is prayer that sparks the connection and brings you closer to him, and binds you to God. Are you worried he doesn't love you or care about you, would not accept you, or are you clueless on how to go about praying?
These are 5 simple steps to connect with God in prayer.
Praying to God does not require any special skill or qualifications. He's easy to communicate with and open to all who reach out for him; Ready to help his children in times of need. You need not be afraid when approaching him because he already loves you. Just try relaxing and calming down. Speak in any language of your choice for he understands all. Even when you don't know what to say, you might as well just kneel and let your heart race to him for he listens dearly.
One ought to be prepared for God to lead and direct him on the right path. Open your mind and heart to him, pray and ask for his guidance in your life. Anything you feel is hard to decide on, consider praying and seeking his presence to go with you. For it is written that when you seek first the kingdom of God, every other thing shall be added unto you.
Apologize daily or each time you pray for all the wrongs you've committed both through your words, actions and thoughts. Knowingly or unknowingly, He will always listen to your traumas and remorse. If possible, try talking to him each night before going to sleep and in the mornings when you wake up since it is calmer then, for he is a merciful God and slow to anger, he will surely forgive you and heal your heart. And so you try as much as possible to not go back to sinning or keep repeating the same wrongdoings you have asked forgiveness in. I know to err is human but trying and persistence shows Him just how committed you are to making your relationship with Him work.
Believing in what you have prayed for or what you are praying for is crucial because he said in his Word that whatever you ask in prayer, believe that you have received it and it will be yours. To ask and you shall receive, seek and you shall find, knock and the door shall be opened unto you. It is when you have faith in that which you have prayed for will your miracles come and you know he has answered your prayers.
Although some may delay, but do not lose hope or faith in him for patience is a virtue and you will surely not be disappointed by what he will do because he's planning something big for you, plans to prosper you and not to harm you.
As children of God, you are loved by him. Therefore to reciprocate his love for you is by believing he can do all things. To love God is done when our thoughts dwell on him, and his holiness, goodness, mercy, and beauty are in our hearts, Then we acknowledge his perfections with prayer and praise in truth.
Do not be ashamed of being a Christian, share your emotions with friends and family, and tell them how marvelous the Lord is and how much he loves every one of them. It may get them involved and interested in praying with you.
Praying is the fastest way to reach out to God and to free us of so many things in life and to restore our soul too. That is why Jesus taught his disciples to pray and say the Lord's prayer in the bible because the enemies are scared when we pray, for they will be shut down. In Psalm 34:17 he said when we cry unto him, he will hear us and deliver you from all your troubles.
Having a connection with God doesn't just require one to be prayerful. There are other things like helping one another in times of need, keeping his commandments as he told us in the bible, living an honest life without pride or arrogance etc. The bottom line is for us to love our neighbors just as we love ourselves and share this good news with our loved ones.
