Biblical Symbolism: Exploring 777 and Its Biblical References

It has been a popular belief since the times of old that numbers try to pass across a message from God and so, they naturally have a deeper meaning. Today we will be looking at the number 777, one of the most popular numbers. The number seven on its own has always been seen as one number that represents perfection, so a triple seven has got to be special.

To be more definite and factual, what does 777 mean and what does it symbolize in the Bible?

Number 777 Symbolism In The Bible

We see the number 7 in His worship, His punishment, and His Word.

• The 7th day or Sabbath amongst the Jews and even Christians is holy and consecrated to the Lord.
• In Jewish culture, there are 7 annual Feasts commanded to them by God in Leviticus 23. They are:
  • Passover or Pesach.
  • Days of Unleavened Bread or Chag Hamatzot.
  • Pentecost or Hag Shavuot.
  • Feast of Trumpets or Rosh Hashanah (New Year)
  • Day of Atonement or Yom Kippur.
  • Feast of Tabernacles or Sukkot.
  • Last Great Day or Shemini Atzeret.  
• The Days of Unleavened bread and Feast of Tabernacles are even kept for a seven-day period (Lev 23:24)

          Four of these feasts are celebrated in the Tishri, which is the seventh month.

• God also always punished the rebellious seven-fold.  He was also particular about seven folds when giving instructions to the Israelites (Leviticus 26).

His Word, the Bible is also flooded with incidences of the number 777 and sevens appearing in threes.

Where Is 777 Mentioned In The Bible?

The number 777 is only directly mentioned once in the Bible in Genesis 5:31. It says,

 “Altogether, Lamech lived a total of 777 years, and then he died.” 

Lamech was Noah’s father.

The 777 meaning here goes deeper than just Lamech’s lifespan. It is used to symbolize completion or fulfillment. This is because the completion of  Lamech’s life also marked the completion of the pre-flood phase of creation. After everyone apart from Noah and his family was destroyed, a new phase of life for mankind began.

Although the number 777 wasn’t mentioned directly again in the Bible, the number 7 on its own and its multiples were mentioned more than 700 times. There are also quite a lot of incidences of the number 7 appearing in threes. This just goes on to show us that the number 7 is very significant spiritually, and the 777 meaning goes deeper. 

• In Genesis 2:2-3, God created the world and rested on the 7th day.
• In Joshua 6:3-4, 7 priests along with the Israelites marched around Jericho 7 times and it fell.
• In Revelation 2:1 the number 7 was mentioned three times. It talks about “one of the seven angels who had the seven bowls full of the seven last plagues”
• In Revelation 1:4, the number 7 is also used three times. There were seven spirits of God, sent to the seven churches, and the apostle John wrote seven letters to these churches.
• In fact, most of the prophecies recorded in Revelations have multiple appearances of the number 7.
• In Exodus 23:11 and Leviticus 25:4, we see that the Jubilee year when servants are freed and all debt forgiven is declared after 7 batches of 7 years each counted in a cycle of seven days. We also see a Sabbatical set apart for the Lord in the seventh year.
• Even the bible itself is divided into 7; the Law, the Prophets, the Writings, the Gospels, the General Epistles, Paul’s writings, and Revelation.

777 Meaning In The Bible

The angel number 777 symbolizes  a lot of significant biblical concepts like:

• For one, it symbolizes the perfectness of the Trinity (God the Father, Jesus Christ the Son, and the Holy Spirit). Three beings in One.
• The number 777 helps us to be in awe of God. All of God’s works around the number 7 are simply incredible. The number provokes us to pay more mind to just how wonderful, majestic, awe-inspiring and simply perfect God’s works truly are. It reminds us that God is very intentional about everything He does and has, including us.
• It is a number symbolizing completion and fulfillment and so points to the significance of allowing God to complete His work in our world through us. Even as we find it littered everywhere in Scripture, it is a call for us to leave the world and everything that holds us back to pursue the perfect fulfillment of God’s work on earth. By utilizing our talents and the gifts God has given us, we can cooperate with Him in making His kingdom come and His will done.
• Its repetition throughout the Bible also helps us to remember God’s Word. It can be hard to keep track of so many numbers. God making his works fall in the 777 range is to help us build trust in Him when we are easily able to hide His Words in our hearts.
• Considering that it is a number of perfection, the 777 meaning includes a reminder of the fact that as the Trinity is perfect in their union, so are we when we receive God into our lives. The union between the Creator and His creation is also perfect because Jesus sacrificed Himself to make it so.

Even as we come across the number 777 when we go through Scripture and around us, we should be reminded of the good and perfect God we serve and the purpose we have been called to, and to live by faith.

We must let them be a reminder that God’s purpose should be completed in our lives and to use our talents and gifts to partner with Him to make it happen.
