I love finding ways to feel God in my day, whether I’m going to work or cooking dinner. I make sure I’m connected to Him by listening to Bible stories, sermons, praying, and singing praise songs. All the apps I test are introduced into my everyday life so that I can feel their usability on a daily basis.
The Bible defines wisdom as the proper application of knowledge at the right time. It is said that knowledge is power, but wisdom is using that power the right way. This doesn’t just apply to discerning right from wrong but also to decision-making.
Many situations come up in life where we get stuck when faced with a choice that could bring about a great change to our or our loved ones lives.
Divine wisdom is a gift from God to those who deserve and ask for it. Just like Solomon, to whom God answered his prayers and brought about wealth, fame, and prosperity, each and every single one of us can rely on God to guide us to the right decision.
“Wisdom gives strength to the wise man more than ten rulers who are in a city.” (Ecclesiastes 7:19)
The best part is that God bestows it freely on all who come to Him to ask. So here are seven powerful prayers you can use to ask for wisdom and guidance from Him.
Daily Prayer for Wisdom
Lord Jesus Christ, as we begin to take steps in the direction of our purpose, we ask that You make us wise. We ask in faith, that as your Word promises us, you will give us wisdom in every small and large decision as we step into our purpose today. We thank you that we don’t have to rely on our own understanding, as we know that your wisdom will guide us to our exact purpose. Even as we go about our day, we ask for your guidance. Thank you that we can come to the throne and ask anything. Thank you for the gift and power of the Holy Spirit. In Jesus’ name, amen.
A Prayer For Wisdom and Guidance
Heavenly Father, According to your word, your heart, and your thoughts about me, I ask for your divine wisdom. I ask that you provide my spirit with understanding to be able to conceive the purpose of my days on this earth. I want to learn to walk under the wisdom of your being, to be understood on the path you have set for my life. I have faith that from today I begin to see the change in my whole being, because in your word it says: “if any of you lacks wisdom, ask God, and he will give it to you, for God gives generously to all without belittling anyone.” I believe in the generosity and mercy of your spirit, in the name of Jesus I know that I have already been provided with your wisdom beforehand. I want to be more like you every day, that’s why today I come to your feet to ask you to give me your pure and perfect guidance. Prayer For Wisdom To Know God
Lord, I ask you according to the book of Ephesians 1:17, that you give me the Spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of you, enlightening the eyes of my heart so that I can know the hope of your call and the riches of your glorious inheritance in the saints and the immeasurable greatness of your power towards me, which I believe according to the work of your great power in the name of Jesus. Bring me closer to knowing who You are day by day. Let me bask in the revelation of Your love, manifold mercy, and great power, in Jesus’ name Amen.
Prayer For Growth In Wisdom and Discernment
Father, The book of Luke 2:52 tells us that Jesus grew in wisdom and stature. Heavenly Father, therefore, I ask that You not only give me the Spirit of wisdom but help me to continually grow in it so that I do not fall from Your leadership in all stations of life. Just like how the tribe of Issachar could discern the times and know what the children of Israel should do, I ask You now and at all times to help me discern the times and know exactly what I must do. Like You gave Daniel and the other three Hebrew boys wisdom and understanding in all abilities and because of this they stood out among all their peers, so I ask you to grant me this same spirit so you can stand out in every sphere of life that I meet. Fill me with a discerning Spirit so that I can make the right decisions at all times, that even when your instructions seem foolish, I will obey them, knowing that they will help me to live directly in the center of your will in the name of Jesus, Amen.
Prayer For Wisdom To Navigate Tough Times
Lord, I’m here today with open hands and an open heart, ready to depend on you to help me and all it will bring my way. Help me be like Nehemiah, help me come to you for guidance, strength, provision, and protection. As I face tough choices and hard situations, help me remember my belovedness, help me remember that I am Your child and Your representative to the world around me. Lead me in the way that I should go. Help me live today in a way that brings honor to Your holy name. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
Final Thoughts
James 1:5 instructs us to ask for wisdom because God gives all His gifts generously without rebuking us for asking. This is our confidence when we offer up prayers for wisdom.
He also invites us to learn how to be wise by getting to know Him better. As we get to know Him, a holy fear and reverence for Him grows in our hearts. The Bible describes this fear as the beginning of wisdom.
Whether it’s in choosing a life partner, a job, a career path or making financial decisions, involving God, seeking His counsel, and following it is what a truly wise man does.
