Philippians 4:13 Bible Verse Meaning Explained
November 2022
Our trust in Christ speaks through our actions because Christ is not only a savior in which we believe, but actually, He is our attitude that shapes our actions. Who believe in Jesus that He is the Lord and Son of God, then He lives in him/her, and when Jesus is present in a believer’s life then no weakness, no fear, no sin, and no illness can live in their lives. Because believing in Jesus gives you equal rights and authority as He has. We can do all the things as promised in Philippians 4:13. Hallelujah!
“I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me” (Philippians 4:13)
Philippians 4:13 meaning reveals our strengths and authority of doing all the things through Christ which are inherited in us by believing in that He is the Son of God and our Lord and that strengths and authority reflect through our actions. We are unable to do anything by ourselves because we are nothing without Christ, but we become sons/daughters of God when we believe in Him and His authority. That being said, if we believe that Jesus being the Son of God gives him unlimited power, then we as sons/daughters of God can also do all the things by believing in Him.
“Most assuredly, I say to you, he who believes in Me, the works that I do he will do also; and greater works than these he will do, because I go to My Father.” (John 14:12)
In John 14:12 Jesus assures that those who believe in him can do all the things as He does. It means that every miracle which Jesus showed we can also do in his name. We can heal the sick, we can clean the lepers, we can give sight to the blind, we can also raise the dead and help them ascend to heaven by offering our blessings and prayers in Jesus’ name.
Philippians 4:13 Meaning
Philippians 4:13 meaning is the revelation of strength that comes through the belief in Christ. This strength is the power of miracles along with peace, patience, pity, wisdom, a vision or plan of God, good communication, the power of influencing people toward God’s Word, and much more. When we see the Apostles‘ lives, they were given all authority and strength through believing in Christ. They showed miracles, raised the dead, healed the ill, gave eyes to the blind, gave feet to the lame, and influenced Jews and non-believers toward Jesus. They displayed Christ’s power by believing in Him.
How can we gain Christ’s strength?
In Hebrews, the word “Messiah” is used for “Christ” which means anointed of God, in the Old Testament this word was used for the deliverer – Jesus.. The one who brings good news fixes the brokenhearted, and reliefs the captives are the qualities of an anointed of God. Jesus had all these qualities, and the Word of God also states these qualities in Isiah 61:1.
“The Spirit of the Lord GOD is upon Me, Because the LORD has anointed Me To preach good tidings to the poor; He has sent Me to heal the brokenhearted, To proclaim liberty to the captives, And the opening of the prison to those who are bound” (Isiah 61:1)
If someone wants to gain Christ’s strength, then they should be Christ-like and devote themselves to His authority. The only way to gain Christ’s strength is to believe that He is the Son of God and our savior. We become sons/daughters of God when we believe in Jesus, and all the characteristics are inherited in us through the Holy Spirit, then we gain Christ’s strength and can do all the things through Him.
Can everyone acquire Christ’s Strength?
God is the best planner and works in a great sequence. He created Heavens and Earth, created Adam and Eve and though they committed sin, God planned their salvation so they could restore that strength again but in Christ.
“And I will put enmity Between you and the woman, And between your seed and her Seed; He shall bruise your head, And you shall bruise His heel.” (Genesis 3:15)
In Genesis 3:15 God planned to crush Satan through Jesus by sending Him in flesh. Jesus is the Word of God who created everything and for Him, everything was created.
“15. And He said to them, “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature. 16. He who believes and is baptized will be saved; but he who does not believe will be condemned. 17. And these signs will follow those who believe: In My name they will cast out demons; they will speak with new tongues; 18. they will take up serpents; and if they drink anything deadly, it will by no means hurt them; they will lay hands on the sick, and they will recover.” (Mark 16:15-18)
In Mark 16:15-18 Jesus addressed His disciple to spread the message of salvation and whosoever believes in Him and baptizes, will be saved, which means they will receive Christ’s strength and will be able to do all the things by believing in Him.
Bible verses that prove Christ’s Strength:
“All things were made through Him, and without Him nothing was made that was made.”
We read in John 1:3 that everything was created through Jesus because God the Father called Him the Word. That is the power in His name that created everything which exists in nature and God gave Him all the authority to do all things. He, being the Son of God obeys His father and does everything accordingly. Jesus’s Strength can only be acquired by having faith in Him
“saying with a loud voice: “Worthy is the Lamb who was slain To receive power and riches and wisdom, And strength and honor and glory and blessing!”
This verse reveals the power and strength of Christ. John states that he couldn’t find anyone in Heavens and on Earth who can open the scroll and its seals, anyone but Christ, who was able to accomplish such a feat. All the elders and creatures praised Him loudly that He brought them with His precious blood.
It also uncovers His authority of sin forgiveness. These creatures are in thousands and they all give glory and honor to him. They all praise Christ by saying that all the glory, power, strength, honor, wealth, wisdom, and blessing belongs to him, and for him.
“And there are also many other things that Jesus did, which if they were written one by one, I suppose that even the world itself could not contain the books that would be written. Amen.”
According to John 21:25, it is impossible to aggregate a list of all the events that display Christ’s strength, as Christ performed many more acts of glory, apart from the miracles which we read in the Bible.
How can Christians today apply Philippians 4:13 to their lives?
Every Christian should apply each verse of the bible in life because it is the truth that sets us free. With concern to Philippians 4:13, we cannot do all the things through life if we do not have faith, because without faith, we do not have Christ’s strength.
“And He said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for My strength is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore, most gladly I will rather boast in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me.” (2 Corinthians 12:9)
2 Corinthians 12:9 says that His grace is all we need, because with his grace, flows his strength that replaces our weakness. In the same way, we should not worry about our weaknesses and insecurities, rather we must recall Philippians 4:13 and put our faith in Christ by worshiping him and offering our prayers.
Whenever we feel suffocated by the hardships of life, we must remember that God is greater than all highs and all lows. We can do all the things through Christ by submiting to His will, the same will that conquered Satan. By believing in Him, by trusting in His plan, we can never be overcome, we can never be defeated.
Offer your prayers to Christ, worship him through your actions, share the gospel and you will be rewarded with his strength. Whenever in doubt, think about the words spoken in Philippians 4:13, remember that God is in control of everything at all times and no matter the hardship, whether in professional or personal life, He will always guide you towards salvation as long as you put your faith in Him.
Final Thoughts
We are the people who believe in the almighty strength of Christ, before whom every creature, angel, prophet, whatever is in this universe, whatever God has created, everything bows down. In the name of Christ, God the Father has given us equal powers as He gave to His beloved Son. He has promised to fill us with all the things He has. So, whatever we ask we will get and whatever we want to do can be possible by devoting ourselves to Him.
